I moved to Delhi in 2009 to pursue my M.A. in History at the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. I graduated in 2011 with a degree in Modern Indian History. My study and research was closely supervised by Professors Janaki Nair, Neeladri Bhattacharya, and Najaf Haider. I produced two original research papers, one of which was published by Economic & Political Weekly in 2017. I am currently revising the other one on musical printing & intellectual production in 19th-century Calcutta for publication.
During my time in India, I travelled widely and produced various documentary films on traditional music, contemporary performing arts, and challenges facing contemporary musicians.
My initial days in Delhi were difficult, although this short piece I wrote in retrospect does feel a bit melodramatic. If it captures the nuances of bureaucratic life in India, I will have been successful! Arriving in Delhi
